Underwear Perhaps not the most exciting piece of clothing in your closet, but it is the basis of your daily comfort. And well -washed underwear not only means freshness, but also a longer lifespan.

Fortunately, most instructions are simply on the washing instructions of your underpants. But do you want to be sure that you are doing everything well and your underwear stays beautiful for as long as possible? Then read on for extra tips.

How often do you have to wash underwear?

You wear underwear directly on your skin and absorbs sweat and bacteria during the day. That is why it is important to wash it after every wear. This is not only fresher, but also better for your skin.

Have you just bought new underwear? Then it was before you put it on. During the production and shipment there may be remnants of dyes and chemicals, and you would rather not have them on your skin. A fast wash ensures that your underwear is immediately fresh and clean before you wear it.

How many degrees do you have to wash underwear?

It is tempting to wash your underwear, but that is not always necessary. In most cases, washing underpants at 30 degrees is sufficient to keep them clean and fresh. This prevents wear, retains the colors and ensures that the elastic lasts longer.

Pro-Tip: Always wash your underwear with a mild detergent and choose a fine wax program to optimally retain the fabric and fit.

For a more hygienic wash it is sometimes necessary to wash your underwear at a higher temperature. But when do you choose to wash underwear at 40 or 60 degrees?

  • 40 degrees - This is the standard for cotton underpants and underwear that needs slightly more cleaning. At this temperature, bacteria and sweat are effectively removed without unnecessarily burdening the substance. Perfect for daily use.

  • 60 degrees - Only use this temperature if you really have dirty underpants, for example after intensive exercise, illness or if extra hygiene is desired. Keep in mind that repeatedly washing at 60 degrees can shorten the lifespan of your boxer shorts, especially with elastic materials.

What's the name of washing underwear for maximum hygiene? Really clean underwear requires 60 degrees, this kills all bacteria.

Wash underpants by hand: when and how?

Sometimes you want to be a little extra careful. For example with luxury materials or if your favorite boxer shorts is really too good to leave to the whims of the washing machine. In that case you can wash your underpants by hand.

Do it like this:

  1. Fill a container with lukewarm water and a little mild detergent.

  2. Let your underwear soak for a few minutes.

  3. Gently rub the fabric together to remove dirt.

  4. Rinse well and squeeze out excess water (but not wringing!).

  5. Hang your underwear or let it dry lying down.

Can underpants in the dryer?

Many people throw their underwear in the dryer without thinking. But by Muchachomalo* We recommend that. Why? Because the heat and friction affect the elasticity and cause the substance to wear out faster.

What then? Just let it dry in the air. This is not only better for your boxer shorts, but also for the environment. Do you want your underwear to last longer? Hang it on a wash rack, from the sun. This way the colors and elastic stays perfectly in shape.

Ironing underwear: is that necessary?

Ironing underwear? In most cases totally unnecessary. The fabrics used for boxer shorts and briefs, such as cotton, modal and microfiber, are naturally supple and wrinkle -free once they are dry. But if you really want a smooth finish, then it is possible. In that case, use a low temperature, avoid direct contact with prints and elastic, and always iron on the inside of the fabric to prevent damage.

How was your underwear per material?

Underwear comes in all kinds of substances, and every substance has its own instructions:
